1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how PopupBoost ("PopupBoost," "we," "us," or "our"), developed by Grinduck, collects, uses, stores, and shares information when:

  • A Shopify merchant ("Merchant," "Client") installs and uses the PopupBoost app (the "App"), and
  • The Merchant's customers or visitors ("Visitors," "Customers") interact with popups, discount offers, spin wheels, SMS forms, email collection forms, or similar features displayed on the Merchant's Shopify store (the "Store").

PopupBoost is developed and operated by the same developer as the Remind Notifications app (Grinduck). However, PopupBoost operates as its own standalone Shopify app.

By installing the App, configuring it on your Store, or using any part of our services (collectively, the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Privacy Policy.

Important:

We have no direct relationship with your Store Customers/Visitors. As a Merchant, you are responsible for informing your Customers about how their data is processed (including by this App) and for obtaining all necessary consents required under applicable laws.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please uninstall the App and stop using the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect and process information about Merchants and, on their behalf, about Visitors who interact with popups or forms displayed through the App.

2.1 Information You Provide to Us (Merchants)

When you install or use the App, you may provide us with:

Merchant / Store Owner Information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Company or store name
  • Contact details you choose to share

Support & Communication Data

  • Messages you send via email or support channels
  • Screenshots, logs, or other materials you voluntarily provide

App Configuration Content

  • Popup text and content
  • Discount settings
  • Spin wheel configuration and rewards
  • SMS and email collection form settings
  • Display rules and targeting settings

We use this information to set up your account, operate the App, provide support, and maintain the Service.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically from Your Store (via Shopify)

When you install PopupBoost on your Shopify Store, we access certain Store data via Shopify APIs, depending on granted permissions. This may include:

Store Information

  • Store name and domain
  • Store contact email
  • Currency and general Store settings

Product Information

  • Product titles, descriptions, variants, collections
  • Images and pricing details

This information allows us to:

  • Display relevant discounts
  • Apply coupon codes
  • Show targeted popups based on products or collections

We only access the data necessary for the App to function properly.

2.3 Information About Your Visitors / Customers

When a Visitor interacts with a popup (e.g., discount popup or spin wheel), the App may collect:

Contact Information

  • Phone number (for SMS), if configured
  • First name or other optional fields you choose to collect

Interaction Data

  • Selected spin wheel result
  • Discount code generated
  • Product or page where popup was displayed
  • Date and time of interaction

This data is collected on behalf of the Merchant to:

  • Deliver discount codes
  • Send marketing communications (if configured and consented)
  • Build email or SMS subscriber lists

To operate and improve the Service, we may collect:

2.5 Cookies and Similar Technologies

  • Maintain login sessions in the Merchant dashboard

Visitors and Merchants can manage cookies through their browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may impact functionality.

3. How We Use the Information

We only share data as necessary to operate the Service or comply with the law.

5.2 Retention

We retain data:

  • As long as necessary to provide the Service

Generally:

  • Visitor data is retained while campaigns are active and for a reasonable period afterward.
  • Merchant account data is retained while the App is installed and for a limited period after uninstall, unless deletion is requested.

When no longer needed, data is securely deleted or anonymized where feasible.

6. Roles: Data Controller and Data Processor

6.1 Merchants as Data Controllers

For Visitor data (e.g., emails, phone numbers collected via popups):

  • The Merchant is typically the data controller.
  • PopupBoost acts as a data processor, processing data only on the Merchant's instructions.

Merchants are responsible for:

  • Providing clear privacy notices
  • Obtaining required consent for email/SMS marketing
  • Complying with laws such as GDPR, CAN-SPAM, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, or other applicable regulations

6.2 PopupBoost as Data Controller

For Merchant account data and App usage data:

  • PopupBoost (Grinduck) acts as the data controller.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent

PopupBoost is not directed to children and is intended for use by adult Shopify Merchants.
